  My 16 month old son started at Gateway Aug. 8, 16 and so far things are going really well. I was nervous about how he would respond on his 1st day after mommy & daddy left him there since he's been at home with me & a part-time sitter since he was 3 months old. The first day, he saw the other kids and toys and waved "goodbye" to us without crying. I knew he'd be ready when we came to pick him up (running towards me with a smile and arms out as usual), boy was I wrong! He completely ignored us and kept playing until I picked him up! I was a little sad, but happy because that tells me he had a great day and wanted to stay! The staff and director have been really great! Registering him was easy, quick, and the tour was fun & educational. Administration answered all questions, responded to emails sent (even the director), and the teachers are friendly, give me updates on him ( I got a "good news" call his 1st day to let me know how he was doing), & show they really care about my child which puts us at ease knowing he's in good hands. There's a lot they teach in the toddler class; my son will learn sign language, spanish, ABC's, 123"s, and potty train. They also read books, play outside, have water day, etc. My son who was still using sippy cups and a bottle has learned to drink from a regular cup by himself in just 1 week and he's learning to feed himself. I already see him trying to be more independent than he was before we enrolled him. I must say, I was nervous about putting him in school and hubby wanted him home longer than I did; however, it's turned out to be a really good decision so far! Very pleased!
  Update, starting around April 2017, issues with staff turnover which led to staff not supervising children. I was picking up my child with marks & bumps that no one could explain. After having to repeatedly take him to the doctor to be checked (to cover myself too). Staff wss calling me about him not having diapers, extra clothes etc when they were in his cubby (no one chose to look). Also found staff using his pull ups & wipes on other children & brought in extra for other kids who didn't have.Spoke to director several times but nothing was changing. he'd come home, take off shoes & have on no socks. Again, no one knew what happened to them. Needless to say, we took him out mid July 2017
