I first attended NC Neruo the first part of 2016 and was matched up with a care provider I adored. She took the time to listen to what was going on with me and acted accordenly she also addressed any concerns or questions I had. She then left to another location and I was matched up with someone new. Upon my first visit with the new care provider I was not sure it would be a good match. However, with one visit you can not really tell. So I gave her a few more tries. As I worked with her it became very clear that she did not read my chart she had suggested medication changes some of the medications mentioned were ones I have tried in past and had a very very bad response too. This was a major concern. I asked if she had looked at the GenSight test that the original care provider had ordered. Her response was that she did not believe in the test. However, every single medication I had tried in past and had a bad experience with came back in the red zone and I told her that therefore, I had to say there was some truth to the test. (Why would the office offer GenSight testing if they don't believe in it?)

She then tried prescribing a couple new medications in addition to what I was already taking. I did not feel the need for them however, I did give it a try once and I hated how they made me feel so I stopped taking the new medications. The next visit again, she tried prescribing two more new meds in replacement of the ones I would not take. I did not have them filled and I did not take them. I did not feel 5 mood altering medications was what was best for me.

Needless to say after I realized she had not read my chart I got myself on a waiting list with a new practice. I had enough medication to get me through until my first visit with the new care provider so I canceled my appointment with NC Neuro. In addition to this they were trying to send me 3 separate bills for $120 I had asked them in writing to please respond back in writing as to what the bills were for. A couple weeks latter they called me. I was told UnitedHealth care did not pay the claims and it was my responsibility.

Keep in mind this practice is on the UnitedHealth care proffered provider list. I stated I knew that was not correct with my particular plan I am only obligate to pay my copy and what were they going to do about it. To which they responded back well we don't have to do anything about it we do not have to submit your claims for you that is your responsibility however, I will do it out of courtesy to you.

I then got off the phone and called UntiedHealth they had in fact paid all three claims and thanked me for calling with my concern. I then filed a complaint with UntiedHealth regarding this practice. I know how difficult it is to get into a provider. My advise if you end up desperate and you have to see someone you do not like place calls and get on a waiting list. Ask your care provider PCP who they would recommend. If you contact a office that has two locations and one does not take your insurance ask if the other office takes that insurance.

In my case I was referred to where I am currently going however it was an office in Ballantyne who does not take UnitedHealth when I called that office to be seen in January they should have told me about the office near uptown who does take UnitedHealth. I would have made the drive initially to go there. Be your own advocate and know what is right for you. If you don't feel like who you are seeing is a good match be proactive and get on a waiting list some place else. It may take a few tries with different locations but, you are bound to find a good match. With that said I DO NOT RECOMMEND NC NEURO! Thank you.
